Dean of School
The School of Agriculture, Environment, Water and Natural Resources Management was established in 2018 through the merger of the following schools as part of a comprehensive restructuring of the University's Schools and Departments.: School of Agriculture, School of Environment and Natural Resources Management, School of Water Resources, Science and Technology, and the Institute of Mining and Mineral Processing. The school plays a pivotal role in supporting the University’s mission and strategic objectives in the fields of Agriculture, Environment, and Natural Resources Management. It comprises four departments: Environmental Science and Land Resources Management; Agricultural Sciences; Hydrology and Aquatic Sciences; and Geology and Meteorology. Each department is tasked with designing academic programmes aimed at promoting food security, sustainable management and utilization of water and natural resources, and environmental conservation. The school currently offers PhD, MSc, and BSc programmes in areas such as agriculture, environment, water resources, geology, meteorology, fisheries, forestry, and land resources management, along with various short courses.
Additionally, the school is dedicated to pioneering research that addresses contemporary challenges in agriculture, climate change, and natural resource management. The school consistently ranks as a leader within the university for securing funded research, community outreach and consultancy projects. Over the past five years, faculty members have collectively obtained research grants totaling more than 250 million Kenya Shillings.
